Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten Program

St. John the Baptist Catholic School offers a two year, full day Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten program.

The first year is Transitional Kindergarten (TK).  A child must be four years old by June 1st prior to the start of the school year.  The second year will be considered Kindergarten (K), and the child must be five years old by September 1st of the school year.

The TK and K school day will begin at 8:00 am and end at 2:30 pm, Monday through Thursday.   Fridays begin at 8:00 am and end at 12:15 pm.

Extended Care is provided for after school care until 5:30pm every day.

The Transitional Kindergarten year concentrates on social, spiritual and emotional growth in a classroom environment, while also preparing the child for the academic journey of the following year. There will be lots of movement, music, fine motor skills, and developmental learning activities that focus on pre-reading, and early math concepts.

St. John’s Kindergarten concentrates on a fun and loving environment in which the child can develop independence, self confidence, social skills, creativity and a love for learning.  The academic curriculum includes Religion, Mathematics, Language Arts, Phonics, Reading, Handwriting, Spanish, Physical Education, Art, Science and Social Studies.  The Kindergarten program will remain the same great academic experience that it has always been.

This TK/K program promotes age appropriate skill development to assist young children in achieving educational success and provides a strong foundation for the child’s continued spiritual development.
